Fungus of the Day
This tree parasite is characterized by its orange color, although more yellowish individuals can also be found. It is not an aggressive parasite, as it does not kill the tree, but it does affect the branches. It has a firm, elastic consistency and a rough texture. It is found in Chile and southern Argentina, growing on deciduous trees of the genus Nothofagus. It is an edible fungus, used in Indigenous and local cuisine.
