Fungus of the Day

Anthracophyllum discolor

One of the most striking fungi found in Chile, despite its small size. The pileus is reddish-orange, smooth and dry on the top, and reddish-brown underneath. It has a short, lighter-colored stipe. It resembles a seashell, with grooves marking the position of the gills. Its spore print is white.
